HITS Culpeper Showday National Recap

Blog posts about horse shows without pictures or videos are troubling (and boring), but Crumpet and Seattle both insist that their four-year old exploits and accomplishments be written about at once, not weeks later when the old-school photographer gets around to sending the hard copies in the snail mail. So a quick recap at the very least with a promise of pictures to follow.

Last week Paige Cade took Crumpet and Seattle, as well as her own horse Corey, to HITS Culpeper’s Showday Nationals. As we all know HITS stands for Horse Shows in the Sun. No one (not even the heroic show organizers) would have argued that HOTS (Horse Shows On the face of the Sun) would have been a more appropriate name for last week’s show. Record breaking heat waves swept the nation and Commonwealth Park was not spared.

Regardless, the boys prevailed. Crumpet competed in the Baby Green and the Training Hunter Divisions and came home with a ribbon from each class on his first day! Seattle jumped around the Level 2′s (1.0m) going clean and fast, with just some extra time in the jump off keeping him out of the ribbons. Regardless – Seattle’s bravery and competence at age 4 speaks volumes to this young horse’s potential.

Enough for now – outrageous photos of Seattle with his knees to his ears and Crumpet loping around to follow shortly. Next show for these boys will be HITS Culpeper in August. Remarkably it will most likely be cooler!
